Can someone please help me with this question on genetic
mutations? Appreciate it
The Drosophila melanogaster mutation vestigial (abbreviated vg-) is a recessive mutation that eliminates wings. Someone has now found another fly lacking wings. This phenotype is caused by a recessive mutation in a single gene. Homozygotes of the new mutant are crossed to homozygous vg^-/vg^- flies. All of the F1 progeny have normal wings. a) What do you conclude about the new mutation? b) What do you predict will be the phenotypic ratios among F2 individuals if the F1 flies are crossed to each other?
