Use all three references. Donald super theory suggests that our self-concept and career development are related based on the experiences we have through our occupation history. Super believes that through the five stages of career development our self-concept is also developing. That each stage adds more information about who we are as a person based on the experiences, we have through our work life (Mossler & Ziegler, 2016). For example, according to Super theory, I am in the Exploration stage of career development. During this stage, I should be “experimenting” with different career paths and hobbies to discover my interests. Although Super theory cannot be applied to everyone because there was a lack of cross-cultural research, I can state that his approach is accurate for myself. I am currently bouncing around behind different career choices and hobbies to discover my interest in career path. While doing this, I have also noticed a difference in my self-concept as well. When I graduated college a year ago, I was not as confident in addressing my weakness or adapting to new situations. Since then I have been forced to adjust to new an environment and lifestyle which has forced me to try out different career paths and interest. I now feel more confident in myself and see my faults a person based on the experiences I have had through my career choices.Whereas, John Holland approach focuses on the objective perspective of a person than the subjective. Holland’s theory was that individuals showed choose a career path based on the traits they already possessed (Mossler & Ziegler, 2016). He identified six features that summarized the characteristics of six different types of work environments. His theory was developed into an assessment that individuals could take, to give them insight into the best career choice for them. I took it upon myself to try out the test to see what my results were (Mossler & Ziegler, 2016). According to my results, my RIASEC code was HPO (helping, persuading, and organizing). Based on my results a job Business, or Human resources would be a great fit (Holland Code Career Test, 2019). One of the skills that I currently use to keep my life balanced is organization. I am now a mother to a 9-month old baby boy and a navy wife. My husband is often away on deployments or underways, so I am always at home holding down the fort. It is essential that I keep everything at work organized an under control, so I do not bring the stress from work to my home life. Likewise, it is also important that my home life is also kept organized. This would mean my house remains clean, and my son is on “schedule” that I can follow. This helps me maintain order and concentration in other areas of my life. I would have to agree that Holland approach is more versatile to use. According to (Source) Hollands results are not accurate and can not always be applied to everyone, but it does give individuals a starting point on what they are possibly good at. I would recommend Hollands assessment to high school graduates or college undergraduates as well. .References Leslie, L. M., King, E. B., & Clair, J. A. (2019).
